Discretionary Bursary Fund (DBF)

DISCRETIONARY BURSARY FUND (DBF)

The Discretional Bursary Fund (DBF) is money that has been given directly to Thomas Alleyne’s High School by the Government to assist 16-19-year-old students who face financial barriers in continuing in full time education. Students are able bid into throughout the academic year providing they meet the financial criteria set by the school.  For the academic year 2017-2018 students are eligible for funding of up to £500 if their parental income is below £25,000 (proof required).

Up to £75 will be allocated to each subject a student studies for the department to decide what resources will aid the students learning. If a student is studying a BTEC course £75 will be awarded for each A-level equivalence. Students can use the remaining funding towards transport costs, purchasing additional course texts, software, revision guides etc. or towards course supporting trips or uniform.
