HEADS OF YEAR
As part of our continued commitment to providing the very best pastoral care for our students, we will be moving from our current Head oh House model to a Head of Year structure.
Students will continue to belong to their House and will still enjoy House competitions, events and activities throughout the year. The House system remains an important part of our school community, promoting a sense of belonging, teamwork and healthy competition. This change relates only to the leadership of our pastoral provision and will not affect students' House identity or involvement.
Under the new structure, our pastoral leaders will support a specific year group and remain with those students as they progress through the school. This will provide greater continuity for students and families, allowing strong relationships to develop over time while ensuring pastoral support remains consistent throughout their secondary education.
From September, the pastoral leads for each year group will be:
-
Year 9: Miss Thorley and Miss Attwood
-
Year 10: Miss Beevor and Mrs Moore
Together, they bring over 20 years of experience at Thomas Alleyne's, providing a wealth of knowledge, guidance and support to students and their families. Their shared commitment is to ensure every Year 10 student feels supported, valued and empowered to achieve their full potential.
As Head of Year 10, Miss Beevor combines her pastoral leadership with her role as an English teacher, giving her valuable insight into students' academic progress as well as their personal development. She is passionate about helping students develop confidence, resilience and the skills they need to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.
As Pupil Welfare Officer, Mrs Moore works closely with students, families and staff to provide day-to-day pastoral care and wellbeing support. She plays a key role in promoting positive behaviour, encouraging strong attendance and ensuring students have the guidance they need to overcome challenges and thrive throughout Year 10.
Working together, Miss Beevor and Mrs Moore are dedicated to fostering a positive, supportive and inclusive year group where high expectations, excellent behaviour and student wellbeing are at the heart of everything they do. They look forward to working in partnership with students, parents and carers to make Year 10 a successful, rewarding and enjoyable year.

Year 11: Miss Jones and Mr Forsyth
Miss Jones is the Head of Year 11 and has been a valued member of staff at Thomas Alleyne’s High School for many years, teaching PE and supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. Alongside her teaching role, she has spent over nine years as a Head of House, giving her extensive experience in student support, wellbeing and pastoral care. This has provided her with a strong understanding of the challenges that young people can face and the importance of ensuring that every student feels supported, valued and able to succeed.
Mr Forsyth is the Pupil Welfare Officer for Year 11 and has been with the school since 2022. He brings a wealth of experience away from the education sector having retired from Staffordshire Police after a 30 year career. He will work closely with students, parents and staff to provide ongoing pastoral care and wellbeing support. He will drive high standards by promoting positive behaviour and high attendance targets to ensure students have the skills and resilience to take them through year 11 and beyond.
Year 11 is an important and often challenging year. Our Year 11 pastoral team is committed to helping students navigate the pressures of examination study with confidence. Our aim is to ensure that every student feels supported, motivated and well prepared to reach their full potential, whilst encouraging them to be ambitious in their aspirations and achievements.
Alongside academic success, we strongly believe in the value of personal development. We encourage students to become involved in the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities, charity initiatives and community events, helping them to develop confidence, resilience and valuable life skills.
As a team, we are committed to supporting students as they prepare for their next steps beyond Year 11. Whether students choose to continue their education at Thomas Alleyne’s Sixth Form, attend college or pursue an apprenticeship, we work closely with them to ensure they are informed, prepared and confident about the opportunities available to them.
From a pastoral perspective, one of the most rewarding aspects of the role is seeing young people grow in confidence, overcome challenges and develop into mature, resilient individuals. Supporting students through such an important stage of their education and watching them leave Year 11 ready for the next chapter of their lives is a privilege.
